Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience
Mental Health Professional: (Expected starting salary is $40.30 to $53.81. Full salary range is $40.30 - $67.32.)
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in clinical counseling, psychology or clinical social work and two (2) years of experience in specific unit or area of specialty.
Required Special Qualifications:
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
- Psychologist licensed by the Board of Psychology.
- Physician licensed under chapter 147 if the physician is: (i) certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; (ii) certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry; or (iii) eligible for board certification in psychiatry.
- Marriage and family therapist licensed under section 148B.29 to 148B.5301.
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
- Registered Nurse who is licensed under sections 148.171 to 148.285 and is certified as a: (i) clinical nurse specialist in child or adolescent, family, or adult psychiatric and mental health nursing by a national certification organization; or (ii) nurse practitioner in adult or family psychiatric and mental health nursing by a national nurse certification organization.
Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.
Nature of Work
Under direct supervision of the Program Manager, consultation and treatment supervision of Co-Responder and Mobile Crisis Team with the team’s criminal justice partners, behavioral health, and chemical health providers to ensure community members needs are most appropriately addressed. Works collaboratively with law enforcement and medical professionals to ensure that individuals get connected to the resources they need within the community while reducing their interactions with the criminal justice system. Will work collaboratively with both our internal and external stakeholders to help ensure continuity of care and transition between services. Promotes respectful communication and conflict resolution strategies. Works in a capacity to reach marginalized populations within the community to provide services, supports and applicable resources. Provides consults with clinical team on calls/cases and treatment adherence; responds to calls for service in the field, performs related duties as assigned. Supports a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace.
Examples of Work
- Performs diagnostic assessments, functional assessments, and treatment planning with clients. Completes paperwork and documentation for record keeping and billing.
- Provides clinical services and group therapy to clients consistent with assessed needs and treatment plans.
- Provides diagnostic mental health assessment, functional assessments, and treatment planning.
- Attends and participates in meetings, including peer clinical consultation meetings.
- Conducts program screenings to determine clinical intervention.
- Coordinates referrals to contracted mental health consultants and service providers in the community
- Provides education, training, and consultation on clinical and mental health issues to criminal justice staff and community partners.
- Performs clinical supervision duties including peer clinical consultation and clinical documentation review.
- Performs crisis assessment and intervention services.
- Reviews accessed services to identify unmet service needs. Makes recommendations for future intervention.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of social service programs within the county and functions (as applicable)

- Knowledge of and ability to teach DBT skills in a group format, in individual therapy and over the phone

- Knowledge and expertise in use of various Clinical Assessment Tools
- Knowledge and skill in providing statutorily defined mental health diagnostic assessments, including diagnoses and treatment planning
- Knowledge of bio/neurofeedback protocol and functions
- Knowledge of parent coaching/couples coaching strategies to aid high risk adolescents and their families to reduce risk of out of home placement, improving family relationships, functioning, and wellbeing
